I'm glad I'm not the only one who liked this movie haha. I was starting to feel crazy reading all the reviews that trashed it.

Batman and Green Lantern chemistry in Green Lantern: Rebirth is pretty cool also btw. Batman (hero who preys on fears) and Green Lantern who overcomes fear is a really interesting mix haha.

Concerning Green Lantern:

For only about 3 years, have known the basic GL origin story (thanks to Justice League: The New Frontier, Green Lantern: First Flight animated movies), but not until this year had I read the graphic novel that much of the movie was based on.
I went into the movie with low expectations, based on critic's reviews and also from knowing how deep the backstory of GL was, knowing that 2 hrs wouldn't be enough to adequately explain the GL universe and also deliver a genre-specific "summer blockbuster" that Warner Bros wanted to put out as their next big franchise following Harry Potter (big shoes to fill!). I wanted GL to be a good movie, but really didn't think it was possible. I was wrong. I thought it was great! Not THOR great (and by no means as broadly appealing as Harry Potter), but better than the critics gave it credit for.
Josh, totally with you on Blake Lively! I actually LIKED her and think she did a GOOD JOB! Same with Sarsgaard, though he usually does well in whatever he's in. He played a very unflattering character the best it could be played. Reynolds played the single character he can play, but it worked as Hal Jordan. And yes, Marc Strong nailed Sinestro (and actually made me like him so much that I hate that he turns evil later on).
They changed a few things from the comics, as I expected (different villain killed Abin Sur than in the original origin), but it was entertaining none the less, and as many incarnations as there are of the origins of Batman, the X-men, and other mythologies that are popular today, no one should be griping about GL.
